Smart casual is ambiguously defined dress code that is generally a neat yet informal attire. Different localities,
kinds of events, context or cultures can have varying interpretation of the
dress code and therefore the designation of certain clothing pieces as smart
casual is disputed.

would wear for sitting around the house. For a “smart casual” event, you
aren’t expected to wear a suit or cocktail dress, but you’re also not expected
to wear your yoga pants and ripped t-shirt. It involves putting a bit of
effort in your attire without going all out.
